On journaling

I have written more letters in life, than anything else; have read more letters, journals, memoirs, biographies than novels, plays, short stories. To mii the promise of a story within the non-story is very real.

Journaling is more of a dialogue with oneself; a practice valuable to everyone, especially the creatives. I look upon it as a kind of thinking aloud, in-writing; a record; an impression. A thing quite apart from talking about something, keeping silent on it, or it's memory. I remind young film students & makers to keep a process book/ film diary/ scrapbook of some kind. Try to practice what I teach!
